According to sources, Boston Bullion is run by its founder Kenneth Murbhy and his brother Richard Murphy, who also claims to be a co-owner. There is only a brief introduction to Kenneth on the official website, and there is no information on any other members or even his brother Richard Murphy.

Kenneth Murphy: Founder & President

Founder & President Kenneth Murphy

Kenneth Murphy, the company’s founder, had a personal financial interest in gold and silver. He got more interested in studying the history of gold and silver, as well as their relevance in the US monetary system, early on in his own investing.

Can You Invest in Boston Bullion IRA?Do They Offer A Precious Metals IRA?

Time needed: 15 days.

To invest in a precious metals IRA through Boston Bullion, here are the general steps:

  1. Open a Self-Directed IRA

Select an IRA company that handles opening precious metals IRA accounts and fill out an application. You can work with Boston Bullion to recommend an IRA company and provide the necessary paperwork. However, I don’t recommend doing so.

  2. Fund Your IRA

Once you have selected an IRA company, you can move your funds into your new IRA account. You can work with the IRA company representative to transfer or rollover funds into the new account.

  3. Select a Precious Metals Dealer

One of the forms you need to fill out along the way is typically called a Buy Direction Letter. This is where you list the precious metals dealer you have selected, such as Boston Bullion

  4. Decide Which Precious Metals to Purchase

You can choose to invest in gold, silver, platinum, or palladium for your IRA. There are some restrictions regarding fineness requirements and allowable coin types, so it’s important to get guidance from Boston Bullion in this area.

  5. Place Your Order

Once the funds are available in your IRA account, you can call them to place your order for the desired precious metals.

However, I don’t recommend opening an IRA with them. Why? Because there are plenty of better options available for you.

Boston Bullion offers free shipping on all orders over $99, and they accept credit cards, PayPal, and bank wire transfers as payment methods.

The company also claims that its brokerage fee and shipping & handling fees are quoted as part of the customer’s order. There are no additional charges, fees or commissions. The price the clients are quoted is the price they will pay.

Boston Bullion further asserts that all of its items are offered as bullion, avoiding the need for returns. If clients are dissatisfied with their order for any reason, they should contact the company within three days of receipt and they will do everything possible to make it right. All other sales are final.

Companies like Augusta charge ZERO fees for up to 10 years and allow you to choose your own gold & silver. Boston Bullion on the other hand provides fewer options.

Negative Reviews:

#1. A dissatisfied client stated that she contacted Kenneth to sell a coin and he was on the phone; she could have waited for him to get off the phone, but he preferred to do it simultaneously. As soon as she handed him her coin, he looked at her as if she was high and told her no, then turned and continued talking on the phone as if she didn’t matter.

She had a lot more coins to show him, but she couldn’t care less about giving him any of her time after that, and the customer also added that if Kenneth is reading this, he should talk to his clients with respect and tell them what he’s interested in. She ended by saying that if something like this happens to you, you should leave this company.

Negative Customer Review

#2. Another dissatisfied customer stated that this company provides the worst customer service. After numerous phone calls and emails inquiring about how to get some coins, he decided not to make any purchases from this place.

The guy who responded to his emails was rude and unprofessional. The client further stated that there is no specialist on coins and that this business will not spend any time with you replying to questions via phone or email. Don’t spend your time with Boston Bullion if you’ve never ordered from them before.
